10 Ukemi Exercises and Games

Some ideas to enjoy ukemi training:
  • Roll over a jo or bokken, add a gap and a second weapon.
  • Roll with a jo or bokken. (Vary the hand.)
  • Roll with arms in lap.
  • Roll with arms folded.
  • Roll over crouching students. (Add up to 5 to make it fun.)
  • Roll on one side 10 times, turning around 180deg each time.  See if you can stand up afterwards!
  • Add obstacles.
  • Toss a ball and roll with it.
